Water going everywhere? Turn the mains off at the meter — front boundary, clockwise. Then open the lowest tap in the house to drain the pressure out of the pipes.
Smell gas? Everyone outside. No switches, no phones inside, no flames. Gas off at the meter if you can reach it safely. Ring 000 if anyone is at risk, then AusNet Services on 13 67 07.
Sewage inside the building? Stop using every fixture in the property, upstairs included. Each flush makes it worse.
